The David Stewart Farm is currently operated as a bed and breakfast. It was used as a field hospital during the Civil War and has been featured on Haunted Towns with the Tennessee Wrath Chasers.
What a great event the World's Largest Ghost Hunt was. It was about unity throughout the paranormal community and beyond. Our original plans where to go to The Exchange Hotel in Gordonsville, Va, but I was presented with an opportunity to go to Gettysburg and I could not pass it up. The Gettysburg Ghost Exchange and Paranormal Inc. did an amazing job and all of the proceeds went to a very deserving young boy named Conner who is currently fighting the good fight with cancer. They were able to raised $2000 that night and I think more is still coming in. I am currently going through tons of evidence review between photos, recordings and videos so I don't have a whole lot to post at this time. I will say that this site was very active that night. Most of the activity seemed to be out in the fields and we were actually interacting with two different time periods. I was able to get a lot of responses using the dowsing rods and other members were able to get responses using the K-2. The Mel meter was drained of two new 9V batteries within minutes of turning it on and there were countless other equipment malfunctions all night. All equipment had been tested and was in working order before hand. Before we left I tested and replaced the 9V in the Mel meter and also brought along a new in package 9V that was tested as well. I use a battery tester even on new out of package batteries because you never really know how long they have been sitting on the self. I have, in the past, been able to do several 4-6 hour investigations on one battery before needing to replace it and within minutes of turning the meter on, I received several spikes starting at 1.7 and going as high as 9.0 and the temperature shot up from 53 degrees to 150 degrees. Now wild fluctuations like this can happen when a battery is giving out, and it was dying at the time, but the real question is what made a new battery die within minutes of turning the meter on when its never done that before. I went back to base and changed the battery and went back into the field and it did it once again, at that point we simply turned it off and put it away. I did pull it out later on that night just to check the temperature, because it seemed extremely cold and the battery was back to showing normal. I didn't continue to use it because at that point I didn't fully trust the readings. I started using the dowsing rods. I usually start out by asking is there is anyone that would like to step forward and communicate. At first I was confused by some of the answers. They answered yes when I asked if they were a soldier, and being that we were on the site of a civil war field hospital in Gettysburg, you pretty much all but assume that it is a civil war soldier that you are talking to. So when I asked if they were union they said no, when I asked if they were confederate they said no, I asked if they were rebel (because that was more likely what they were called back then) they said no. I thought, either I'm not really connected to them or they are just playing with me. Then I asked were you a soldier in the civil war they said no. Confused, I switch questions and started to ask things such as how many spirits are here, point in the direction that they are in, where do they mostly spend their time, in the field, the house, or the barn. The house was the response and there were 6 spirits there at the time. They also answered through a series of questions that they were not trapped and came and went as they pleased. I thanked them and ended the session and returned to the barn. While setting up in the barn I over heard someone say they were getting conflicting answers as well and then their SB-7 said minute man and it simultaneously click with all of us. We had been communicating with a soldier from the revolutionary war not civil. Lesson learned, never assume that because the area is rich in one time period's history that another one won't come through. In the barn we were able to ask questions using the K-2 meter as a yes/no generator. We learned that there was also a nurse there from the civil war era who could also come and go. The highlight of my evening was when I was able to personally connect with a soldier. I went back out into the field and stood quietly and opened up to my senses and before me stood a young man in his 20's dressed in full uniform. He told me he was from the 53rd Virginia infantry. I think we connected because I was also from Virginia. I asked him if he was stuck here and he said no mam. I asked him if he was free to come and go and he said yes mam. When I asked him why he comes back here, he laughed and said, well mam, I just like the spectacle of all of these people running around. It actually made me laugh and I lost the connection, but it was an amazing experience and one that I have not had in a very long time. What a great night at a great place for a great cause. Even though there were a ton of us there we were all able to spread out and do our own thing without stepping over anyone else. Everyone was courteous to everyone else and everything seemed to run smoothly. At the end of the night we all left feeling good about the investigation and satisfied that we were part of something bigger than us and knowing that we helped out a very deserving family. If you're ever in Gettysburg make sure you make your first stop the Gettysburg Ghost Exchange, you will not regret it.
